Leaf Works

In these works, metallic leaf becomes both surface and light. Hand-cut, curving forms move through fields of gold and silver, creating shifting relationships of rhythm, balance, and space. The reflective metals respond continually to their surroundings—appearing luminous and expansive in direct light, quieter and more atmospheric as the light changes.

Irregularities inherent in the leafing process—fractures, overlaps, abrasions, seams, and areas of incomplete adhesion—remain visible as integral elements of the work. These traces give the ordered geometry a sense of age and material history, recalling weathered maps, folded charts, planetary surfaces, and fragments of an unknown geography. Across the series, geometry serves not as a fixed structure but as a framework for improvisation—a form of visual music shaped by movement, repetition, light, and chance.
