Kenan first developed his transfer rubbing technique in January, 2009. In this process, he begins by selecting and editing photographs or public domain images. He then prints these images onto clear plastic and then rubs the backside to transfer them onto paper surfaces. The finished works can contain a singular image, or they may be more complex, involving the overlaying successive rubbing images or text.
